Responsibilities
Maintain an active program of research and creative/scholarly activity leading toward tenure; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Music, Musicology, and additional areas of expertise; mentor graduate students in the Musicology Area; contribute to the intellectual and artistic life of the College of Music; and participate in appropriate service.
The successful candidate will also contribute to FSU's Early Music Program through historically informed performance, which may include coaching, directing, performing with, or otherwise supporting Early Music ensembles and related activities.
Qualifications
Completed doctorate or highest degree appropriate in Musicology, Historical Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Evidence of a developing record of excellence in research and teaching appropriate to a tenure-earning appointment. Scholarly expertise in Early Music (broadly defined) and demonstrated knowledge of historically informed performance practice.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates whose scholarship and teaching engage substantially with performance and performance practice and who can contribute actively to FSU's Early Music Program. Demonstrated experience performing, coaching, directing, or otherwise working with historically informed vocal and/or instrumental performance is especially desirable. Additional areas of scholarly expertise are open.

The Musicology Area seeks a scholar specializing in Early Music whose work integrates historical research with historically informed performance. The successful candidate will contribute to FSU's longstanding strengths in Early Music and its integration of musicological study, performance practice, and ensemble participation.
