Description
General Summary
The Bartender is responsible for delivering professional beverage service at Hayes Hall bars during performances and supporting private events and other Artis-Naples bar locations as business needs require. This position ensures bars are properly prepared, stocked, operated and closed in accordance with Artis-Naples service standards, safety practices and responsible alcohol service requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
• Wear the required uniform, including a white long-sleeve button-down shirt, black dress slacks, black non-slip shoes and black socks. Artis-Naples will provide a vest and bow tie.
• Report to the manager upon arrival and clock in using the timekeeping system.
• Receive briefing from the manager regarding the performance, private event, bar location, service schedule and any special instructions.
• Collect assigned inventory sheets and keys from the designated location. Notify the manager if the bar setup is incomplete or requires additional direction.
• Complete assigned opening side work right away, including preparing fresh lemons and limes and filling ice bins completely before bar service begins.
• Review inventory sheets and restock liquor, beer, wine, champagne and related supplies as needed to maintain established par levels.
• Ensure sufficient bar supplies are available, including plastic glassware, napkins and fruit garnish.
• Obtain the assigned bank from the manager or supervisor before service begins.
• Open the bar at the designated time. Set up and return each bar in a consistent manner so all bartenders know where items belong.
• Verify the assigned bank for accuracy before opening the bar.
• Restock items that are running low after the event begins, especially coffee and bottled water, and be prepared to reopen for intermission service.
• Close the bar following intermission or at the designated time. Return the bank to the manager or supervisor on duty in accordance with established procedures.
• Complete inventory of liquor, wine, beer, soft drinks, mineral water and bottled water and submit accurate inventory documentation.
• Clean the bar area completely, including emptying trash receptacles and returning them to the bar. Do not drag trash on the floor.
• Restock sodas, wines, liquors and other assigned items to established par levels for the next service.
• Support acceptable beverage cost levels by following portion control standards and minimizing waste.
• Check in with the manager or supervisor for final instructions before completing the shift.
• Return completed inventory sheets to the manager or supervisor on duty.
• Clock out using the timekeeping system after being released by the manager or supervisor on duty.
• Follow all safety requirements and promptly report safety concerns, maintenance needs or work order items to the appropriate supervisor, Safety or Security personnel.
• Collaborate professionally and effectively with Artis-Naples team members, managers, supervisors and event staff.
Education
• High school education or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience
• One year of bartending, food and beverage, customer service, or related hospitality experience preferred.
• Must comply with all applicable alcohol service requirements, including responsible beverage service practices and verification of legal drinking age when required.
