JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager, Team Member Communications is an experienced communications professional and accomplished storyteller responsible for drafting, implementing and delivering communications plans and content that support business initiatives, strengthen Team Member engagement and reinforce Universal Orlando Resorts culture and brand. This role works closely with senior leadership across client groups, as well as cross-functional stakeholders, to create and deliver communications that keep Team Members informed, inspired and connected across the destination.

This Manager owns communications planning, coordinates communications production and distribution across multiple channels, ensuring messaging is timely, accurate and aligned with organizational priorities and brand standards. This role requires an organized communicator, a storyteller and collaborator who excels in a fast-paced environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Content Planning and Development
    • Leads, implements, drafts and delivers internal communications plans and content that inform, engage and connect Team Members to Universal Orlando Resort's culture, priorities and business updates.
    • Creates content for organizational initiatives, operational updates, marquee events and Team Member programs across multiple channels.
    • Partners with senior leaders, executive stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather information and write and craft engaging content and storytelling opportunities.
    • Manages content review, approval and distribution processes to ensure communications are timely, accurate and effectively delivered.
    • Monitors communication performance and audience feedback to identify opportunities to make updates to content, channels and processes.
    • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and other groups on photography, videography, social media and multimedia content, advising partners (e.g., direct reports, internal clients, external agencies, etc.) to ensure storytelling meets brand and channel standards.
  • Executive Communications
    • Works with senior leaders, executive and cross-functional stakeholders to draft, craft and deliver communications that support business initiatives, organizational updates and Team Member engagement.
    • Creates and coordinates executive communication materials including talking points, speeches, presentations, leadership messages, town hall content, executive notes, emails and other communications
    • Supports drafting and production for internal leadership forums, including town halls and Team Member meetings, through written communications, presentations and supporting materials.
  • Operational Communications
    • Manages, implements and distributes communications related to operational updates, business needs and Team Member awareness.
    • Partners with teams like Operations, Talent & Culture, Safety, Security and other stakeholders to draft and distribute timely communications related to operational updates, policy changes, safety information and other business needs.
    • Leads the distribution of time-sensitive communications to keep Team Members informed of operational updates and important business information.
    • Drives improvements to operational communication processes and channels.
  • Client Partnerships and Workflow Management
    • Builds and maintains relationships with leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs and drive communication execution.
    • Partners with internal clients to craft executional communication recommendations that support business initiatives and Team Member engagement.
    • Maintains awareness of organizational initiatives and operational updates to inform communication execution, drafting and content delivery.
    • Participates in cross-functional meetings, project teams and working groups as needed.
    • Supports communication workflows and processes to improve efficiency, coordination and project execution.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field or experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, along with previous supervisory experience; Must display excellent judgement and confidence with executives and stakeholders and the ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Proven experience developing and executing internal or employee communications campaigns across multiple channels (email, intranet, digital signage, newsletters, leadership forums, social media channels, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in operational and organizational communications, translating complex business information into clear, audience-ready messaging.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to maintain organization over multiple projects.
  • Proven skillset in measuring success and using research, data and insights to inform execution of communications tactics in support of company initiatives.
  • Exhibits an aptitude for story-mining, writing and producing content aligned to corporate storytelling strategies and tracking performance.
  • Demonstrated creative judgement, with the ability to advise on photography, videography, social media, graphic design and multimedia content creation and best practices.
  • Skilled writer with an ability to tailor messages for various audience groups and in different formats, inclusive of leadership messages, newsletters, intranet articles, scripts, talking points and more.
  • Proven ability to understand and distill complex information in order to simplify for varied internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to support issues response and sensitive communications by drafting materials and coordinating approvals.
  • Competence in dealing with sensitive or controversial matters on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to be nimble and adapt, demonstrating effectiveness at handling multiple concurrent, often conflicting priorities.
  • Must be a clear communicator able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Experience in communications for a theme park, resort or large-scale operational environment is a plus.
  • Experience with communications, content and project management tools like Workfront, Airtable, Sprinklr and WordPress is preferred. Experience with internal channels and intranet platforms (e.g. Sharepoint) is a plus.
  • Event planning experience a plus.
  • Experience with influential national and local media a plus.
