Position Summary:

Product Configurator II / III is a position within the operations/policy administration organization. This role is responsible for configuring, testing, supporting, and implementing approved product changes within the Policy Administration System, including Duck Creek.

The Product Configurator II / III uses available configuration tools to support system areas such as rates, rules, forms, UI(Express3), validations, transactions, workflows, and product behavior. This role also provides production support by researching issues, identifying root cause, resolving configuration-related defects, and supporting release validation.

Essential Functions:

The Product Configurator II / III is responsible for the following activities aligned with assigned areas of responsibility, including rules, rates, forms, product configuration, testing, and production support:

  • Monitor production support queues, service desk tickets, JIRA items, or other support channels.
  • Triage production issues, determine business impact, identify root cause, and escalate when needed.
  • Respond to requests for technical or configuration assistance in person, by phone, email, or electronically.
  • Provide production support for configuration-related issues, including troubleshooting, defect resolution, documentation, and post-release validation.
  • Review and understand business, product, and regulatory requirements before making configuration changes.
  • Analyze business system needs, user needs, and production support issues.
  • Use Duck Creek Policy Administration System configuration tools to make approved changes.
  • Configure assigned product components, including rates, rules, forms, validations, underwriting logic, transactions, and workflows.
  • Perform unit testing, regression testing, defect validation, and quality testing to confirm changes function properly.
  • Fix defects identified during testing, UAT, or production support as they relate to product configuration.
  • Perform peer review and quality checks on configuration changes completed by other team members.
  • Document requirements, assumptions, configuration changes, use cases, user stories, test results, and production support findings.
  • Maintain current knowledge base articles, troubleshooting guides, and configuration documentation.
  • Follow best practices for code deployment, including working in a local repository and performing pull, push, merge, and code review activities.
  • Maintain accurate records in JIRA, Service Desk, Confluence, and other applicable tracking tools.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other configurators, assist with complex issue analysis, and recommend configuration or process improvements.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business, Accounting, Insurance, or equivalent related experience.
  • Prior experience configuring or supporting insurance products within a Policy Administration System.
  • Hands-on experience with Duck Creek configuration tools or similar insurance product configuration platforms.
  • Experience with testing, defect resolution, documentation, and production support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, assignments, and production support requests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with business and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of Duck Creek Author and related Duck Creek configuration tools.
  • Familiarity with insurance products, rating, rules, forms, underwriting, and policy administration processes.
  • Experience with Commercial Lines insurance is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Lines coverages, limits, deductibles, classifications, rating plans, underwriting rules, forms, transactions, and regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, agile delivery, production support, and release management processes.
  • Experience using JIRA, Confluence, Service Desk, Git, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
