Position Overview:
The Assistant Manager of Engineering is responsible for the oversight of engineering and maintenance teams across the resort. The Assistant Manager ensures that all guest repair requests are responded to and repaired promptly. Communicate with all guests and customers in a professional and courteous manner in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
What You'll Do:
- Support the Director of Engineering in daily operations, providing leadership and guidance to the engineering and maintenance teams.
- Respond quickly to guest maintenance requests, ensuring clear, courteous, and timely communication throughout
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on kitchen equipment, mechanical systems, and tools, including cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting.
- Carry and utilize radios, tools, and related equipment necessary for on-the-go maintenance and communication.
- Identify and operate key utility shut-off valves for emergencies or scheduled maintenance purposes.
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, submitting requisitions as needed to support repair and maintenance schedules.
- Record all shift activity in the engineering pass-on log and communicate relevant updates to ensure continuity across shifts.
- Document completed maintenance tasks and any unresolved issues for follow-up and accountability.
- Apply technical knowledge in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, and kitchen equipment to resolve issues and prevent breakdowns.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance and perform basic repairs on guestroom features and facility infrastructure.
- Safely follow Lockout/Tagout procedures when working on any equipment with an energy source.
- Assist in repairs and maintenance of irrigation systems and ensure all work complies with safety and company policies.
- Physically handle lifting tasks up to 50 lbs. without assistance (team lift heavier loads)
- Comfortably navigate ladders, ramps, and tight spaces.
- Utilize basic computer skills to enter information into the maintenance system and support accurate reporting.
- Embrace a "no task too small" attitude and perform other reasonable duties as assigned to support overall resort operations and guest satisfaction.

What We're Looking For:
- 3-5 years' previous maintenance experience is required, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds. Physical requirements include but are limited to prolonged walking and standing, bending, and stooping.
- Ability to work in the Florida outdoor elements.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with hotel systems (ALICE a plus)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include holidays and weekends.
