Creates and implements a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines. Establish effective rapport with students, staff members, and parents. Responsible for providing assistance to the Academy Director and teachers with the implementation of educational curriculum that matches the federal, state, and school mandates to increase the achievement of all the students in the school.

Broward Children's Center (BCC) is dedicated to transforming lives by providing specialized care to children and young adults who are medically fragile and developmentally disabled. Our comprehensive services range from 24/7 skilled nursing at our pediatric care facility to developmental education programs, therapeutic support, and family-centered services like respite care, social services, and in-home health support.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepares for and conducts parent and student conferencing according to school policy.
  2. Delivers student instruction in modalities instituted by school and assigned program.
  3. Collects data and appropriate work samples.
  4. Assists with planning for classroom and testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
  5. Provides assistance with developing and adapting curriculum materials and educational practices to meet the needs of students.
  6. Collaborates with other staff to monitor student progress.
  7. Completes student progress reports four times a year (quarterly).
  8. Maintains IEPs, Quarterly Reports, and Progress Monitoring.
  9. Develops and Implements IEPs with measurable goals using Progress Monitoring.
  10. Collects and Reports Progress Monitoring Data for all student goals.
  11. Makes data-driven instructional decisions to improve student outcomes.
  12. Maintains accurate and compliant special education data (class lists with contact info, related services info, IEP due dates, etc.).
  13. Completes reevaluations in accordance with Regulations and best practice.
  14. Completes all special education paperwork accurately, according to regulations, and on time.
  15. Maintains communication with Related Service Providers and Case Managers to ensure compliance with provision of services, evaluations, and quarterly progress reports.
  16. Administers diagnostic assessments as needed.
  17. Obtains and maintains compliant special education electronic student files.
  18. Participates in school specific training.
  19. Attends Professional Development as designated on school calendar (travel may be required).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Florida Driver's License

HIV, CPR/First Aid Certifications

Valid Florida Educator's Certificate or eligible for a Florida Certificate in Preschool or Primary/Pre-K Education, or any subject within exceptional student education (ESE)

Pre-K Disability Endorsement

Department of Children and Families 45 Hours Child-care Course

Department of Children and Families Staff Credentials

Department of Education Statement of Status of Eligibility

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents or employees of the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Provides directions to teacher assistant(s) assigned to the classroom.
