Responsibilities

Responsible for groundskeeping maintenance tasks within zones on Florida State University properties as assigned to consistently maintain a safe, clean, sustainable, and attractively landscaped environment for the students, faculty, and staff of our institution.

Performs groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, edging, raking, mulching, power blowing, weed eating, pulling weeds, light pruning, and watering plants. Responsible for debris removal, leaf removal, trash pickup and other tasks to keep grounds clean and presentable. Maintains areas by spreading landscape materials such as pine straw, bark, or rocks.

Assists with landscaping tasks such as planting bushes, plants, shrubs, and trees. Assists in maintaining turf areas by utilizing push mowers to ensure an attractively landscaped environment on campus. Prepares landscaped areas with soil excavation, turf removal and re-sodding.

Safely operates and maintains grounds equipment to ensure the health and appearance of university grounds. Ensures that all manual and power equipment is in proper working condition and reports maintenance problems to the supervisor. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor or higher authority.

Qualifications

Minimum of a 9th Grade Education
  • Valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire
