Guest Engagement Ambassadors
Guest Engagement Ambassadors play an important role at ZooTampa by creating "unforgettable natural connections". They enhance the guest experience by engaging and educating visitors of all ages through the use of interactive stations and biofacts. Our Guest Engagement Ambassadors interpret in the Zoo and share conservation messages, supporting the Zoo's vision of motivating everyone we touch to join us in protecting and preserving wildlife.

Guest Engagement Ambassadors
Guest Engagement Ambassadors play an important role at ZooTampa by creating "unforgettable natural connections". They enhance the guest experience by engaging and educating visitors of all ages through the use of interactive stations and biofacts. Our Guest Engagement Ambassadors interpret in the Zoo and share conservation messages, supporting the Zoo's vision of motivating everyone we touch to join us in protecting and preserving wildlife.
Program Expectations
- Commit to a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer service over the course of 6 months.
- Guest Engagement Ambassadors must volunteer a minimum of 5 hours each month.
- After acceptance, Guest Engagement Ambassadors must complete all training and observation sessions. Training covers interpretation, conservation, ecology, and natural history.
- At the completion of training, Guest Engagement Ambassadors must demonstrate the ability to provide accurate and engaging interpretation at select animal habitats.
- Successfully complete programs and assignments.
- Attend continuing education courses.
Program Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Must be passionate about animals and conservation.
- Must be enthusiastic about engaging Zoo guests in support of ZooTampa's mission.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Successfully complete background screening.
- Sign off on policy packet with liability release.
- Must be able to attend one training day each week. Volunteer training classes are from 8:30am - 4:00pm.
- Week 1: Friday, August 14 or Saturday, August 15
- Week 2: Friday, August 21 or Saturday, August 22
- Week 3: Friday, August 29 or Saturday, August 30
Process and Details
- Apply online at ZooTampa's Career Center.
- A representative of ZooTampa at Lowry Park will contact qualified candidates who have applied with an invitation to attend a mandatory interview session.
- If conditionally approved to proceed, candidates will undergo a background check at their own expense. The cost for this is typically $25.00, but some jurisdictions may charge additional fees.
