Imaging System Specialist 1 - Radiology Administration

Under supervision of Section Manager or Team Leader and according to established procedures performs retrieving, delivering, and maintaining of patient images. Performs complex clerical functions including receiving, classifying, reconciling, consolidating and summarizing of images, documents and information. Sets up and maintains office equipment. Compiles regular reports using established formats and procedures. Performs reception duties such as answering the phone, as required. Performs PACS and CPACS functions to include importing and exporting of exams, quality assurance, assistance for Radiologists and other hospital staff, and performs other office duties when needed. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise required to complete a wide array of clerical tasks including typing, filing, consolidating documents and information, and office equipment, and answering departmental phones/switchboard.
  • General knowledge of Imaging systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate scanning equipment, CD exporter and fax machine.
  • Includes logging & mailing out films and electronic image sharing.
  • Ability to request and import Radiology and Cardiology imaging via electronic image exchange networks.
  • Recognize and resolve QA issues (duplicate med records, patient edits, EMR image link missing, etc.) & elevate to appropriate staff as necessary.
  • Maintain trash files in appropriate lists.
  • Ability to request and import imaging via electronic image exchange networks.
  • Ability to search for images in several different areas.
  • Ability to research unread films/images and process delayed readings.
  • Maintains appropriate records, logs and documentation, as required. Documents exam data entry in Radiology Information System (RIS) per prescribed professionals.
  • Maintains the designated work areas in a stocked, clean and orderly manner.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience & Additional Information:

  • Basic to moderate computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and general public.
  • Ability to follow procedures and instructions in completing work duties.
  • Proof of customer relations training or experience.
