Assist teachers with daily classroom instruction, activities, and student supervision.
Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by the classroom teacher.
Reinforce classroom instruction, assignments, and learning activities.
Assist students with understanding and completing classroom assignments.
Provide support to students who require additional academic assistance.
Assist with implementation of accommodations and instructional strategies identified for individual students.
Support students with organizational skills, time management, study habits, and completion of assignments.
Monitor student behavior and reinforce appropriate classroom and school expectations.
Assist teachers with maintaining a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment.
Provide supervision of students during transitions, arrival, dismissal, lunch, hallways, assemblies, field trips, and other assigned activities.
Assist students in developing appropriate social, communication, and self-management skills.
Encourage student independence and provide assistance only to the level necessary for the student to be successful.
Assist with classroom preparation, instructional materials, bulletin boards, displays, and other learning resources.
Help maintain an organized and appropriately equipped classroom.
Assist with collecting, organizing, and maintaining student work and instructional materials.
Provide clerical and instructional support to teachers as assigned.
Assist with testing and assessment activities in accordance with school and district procedures.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student records, academic performance, behavior, and other student information.
Communicate student concerns, progress, or behavioral issues to the appropriate teacher or administrator.
Follow directions and instructional plans provided by certified teachers and school administrators.
Assist in implementing student behavior and academic support plans as directed.
Support students during independent work, intervention, remediation, and enrichment activities.
Assist students with appropriate use of classroom technology and instructional resources.
Maintain professional relationships with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and other school personnel.
Follow all school board policies, procedures, safety regulations, and applicable laws.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
Student Support Responsibilities

The paraprofessional may be assigned to support students with a variety of academic, behavioral, developmental, or instructional needs. Duties may include:

Providing one-on-one or small-group academic assistance.
Supporting students with reading, writing, mathematics, and other core academic skills.
Reinforcing teacher-directed behavior interventions.
Assisting students with transitions between classes and activities.
Supporting students in remaining engaged and on task.
Helping students develop independence and self-advocacy skills.
Assisting with classroom accommodations and modifications as directed by certified personnel.
Providing appropriate assistance with daily routines when required by the student's educational program.
