Senior Network Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Perform security administration to configure and document firewall infrastructure access rules and work with peripheral network components using Palo Alto, Check Point, and GlobalProtect VPN technologies.
- Perform firewall deployments, rule migrations, firewall administration, and conversion of existing rule-based policies onto new platforms.
- Support critical core network infrastructure including next generation firewalls, VPNs, log collectors, and monitoring technologies.
- Configure cloud network infrastructure, firewall controls, security policies, and network traffic monitoring.
- Develop and maintain technical and security documentation following NIST guidelines.
- Develop, implement, and manage enterprise security solutions across network infrastructure, data, systems, cloud environments, telecommunications, and web-based services.
- Develop and maintain enterprise security policies, standards, procedures, and technical controls for authentication, privileged access, network access, monitoring, vulnerability management, firewall administration, encryption, remote access, and incident escalation.
- Perform security risk assessments and develop risk-based response strategies for enterprise network and infrastructure environments.
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity threats and security events, administer security profiles and access controls, investigate exceptions, and coordinate remediation.
- Evaluate emerging network and security technologies and lead technical evaluations, proof of concept activities, product assessments, and implementation recommendations.
- Provide advanced technical support and consultation on complex network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity issues.
- Provide security expertise and technical leadership throughout the IT project lifecycle.
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, routing and switching, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, Internet connectivity, cloud connectivity, and data center infrastructure.
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex network and security incidents using monitoring, logging, packet analysis, performance data, and security tools.
- Develop network security architecture and segmentation strategies to protect critical systems, isolate sensitive workloads, and establish appropriate security boundaries.
- Establish and monitor network performance and security metrics, dashboards, key performance indicators, and management reports.
- Maintain technical documentation and configuration standards for network and security infrastructure, including network diagrams, IP addressing, VLANs, firewall rules, access controls, security configurations, operational procedures, and disaster recovery requirements.
- Collaborate with architecture, cybersecurity, systems, database, application, cloud, telecommunications, and infrastructure teams on integrated technology solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to network and security staff and establish network engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
Potential candidate must possess the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Typically, 5 to 10 years of combined IT and security work experience with broad exposure to systems analysis, applications development, database design, and administration.
- Three to five years of experience with information security tools based on NIST standards.
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in enterprise networking, cybersecurity, systems, databases, cloud infrastructure, and/or web operations.
- Advanced knowledge of network architecture, routing and switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, network segmentation, wireless infrastructure, cloud networking, identity and access management, security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and enterprise security controls.
- Knowledge of security issues, techniques, and implications across existing computer platforms.
- Experience using schematic diagramming tools to map infrastructure layouts.
Preferred:
- Experience with next generation firewall Palo Alto or Check Point security products.
- Preferred certifications: PCNSE, CISSP, CCNP, or CCIE.
