Provide direct, specialized instruction to students in a resource setting based on identified academic and learning needs.
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards, curriculum requirements, and students' individualized learning goals.
Provide instruction in small-group and/or individual settings as appropriate.
Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying learning styles, abilities, and academic levels.
Implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or other applicable educational plans.
Monitor and document student academic progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, instructional services, and progress toward educational goals.
Administer and interpret classroom-based assessments and other appropriate progress-monitoring measures.
Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in the general education classroom.
Participate in IEP meetings and assist with the development, review, and implementation of IEP goals and services.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, needs, and areas for improvement.
Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
Use appropriate classroom management techniques to promote student engagement and academic success.
Provide additional academic support and intervention when students demonstrate areas of need.
Maintain confidentiality of student information and educational records.
Collaborate with administrators, counselors, school psychologists, related-service providers, and other school personnel as needed.
Participate in professional development activities and implement effective instructional practices.
Follow all district policies, school procedures, curriculum guidelines, and applicable federal and state regulations.
Maintain a safe learning environment and report concerns regarding student safety or well-being according to established procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or appropriate administrator.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of middle school curriculum, instructional practices, and classroom management.
Knowledge of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies.
Ability to develop and implement effective instructional plans.
Ability to analyze student data and use results to guide instruction.
Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student records.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative educational team.
Ability to use technology and educational software to support instruction.
Ability to meet the academic, behavioral, and individual needs of diverse learners.
